Greg Week 3

This week I was observed. Part of my planning for my lesson I had to follow standard 5, The competent teacher differentiates instruction by using a variety of strategies that support critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, and continuous growth and learning.  This teacher understands that the classroom is a dynamic environment requiring ongoing modification of instruction to enhance learning for each student. That was because there are so many different types of learners in my classroom. They each had a different job during the lesson, turn the page, read the repeated story line and answer questions.

My Cooperating teacher seems t be stepping back more and more. She asked me questions like, “what would you do if” or what do you think we should do here.” It seems like I will be taking over the classroom very soon, and I am very excited.

Something that I learned a lot this week goes with standard 7, The competent teacher understands and uses appropriate formative and summative assessments for determining student needs, monitoring student progress, measuring student growth, and evaluating student outcomes.  The teacher makes decisions driven by data about curricular and instructional effectiveness and adjusts practices to meet the needs of each student. My teacher and were collecting baseline data and discussing different ways to do assessment while planning for m EDTPA.

Greg- Week 2

This week was fantastic. I was able to teach a less that I created with my cooperating teacher. The less went okay. After it was done, we tweaked it and it can be used multiple times for a different state in the united states to teach about traveling to different sights. Now it looks better, and I can’t want to try it next week. This collaborating connects to professional learning standard 8, collaborative relationships, “This teacher works as a team member with professional colleagues.”

My coopering teacher gave a lot of freedom this week. She was present in the room but was giving me the reigns. She would give me vague directions on what to do next and then make sure that I did it. I think there is still some growth for me to be made when working with teacher assistants.

I feel very comfortable and confident in my teaching abilities. I know that everything I teach can tweaked. What I encountered this week is staff management and trying to figure out how best to do that. This is something that I feel I need to figure out on my own. I am not sure that I will perfect in in my placement and I’m not sure I would follow my teachers’ style. But I do not want to change the way her room is run so I’m just rolling with it.

Next week I hope to improve my planning. I am told that I am doing great and I am really enjoying my placement. I just need to be better at following the schedule and planning my lesson accordingly.

Greg- Week 1

This week was am amazing learning experience. Everything was new, the school the students the instructional aids and I was moving quick to try to get in the flow.  I sated working on learning the students daily schedule, when the go to the bathroom, what and if they eat when they come in, where they sit, how important positioning is, and ALL the new gear term, how it goes on and what it does. This was perhaps and will continue to be the most challenging art since it is so new to me.

This week my cooperating teacher had me shadowing her a lot to see what her role is in the classroom. She went to a meeting for all the multi-needs teachers in the building, she had a staff meeting in the room. Both these meetings were pretty productive. I got to sit on these meetings and observe how they run.

The students followed their daily schedule. They had bathrooms breaks, they had gym, social work, speech. There is a time for IEP goals, there is a class meeting. The students were excited to have another teacher in their room!

Next week I will be doing more teaching and slowing start to take over the classroom management including 3 teacher aids. There will be a lesson net week that my cooperating teacher and I collaborated on and will be teaching as part of a social studies unit. The management of aids is something that I am nervous about simply because I’ve been the aid and I know how many of them feel think at times in schools like this. They are super important to the classrooms success and the teacher has to work hard to make sure they are happy.

Greg Week 15

This week I had my final observation on Monday. The students had been working with graphing and analyzing...
